What we keep, and why
Draft — pending legal review
This notice describes what the website does today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer against India’s DPDP Act 2023 or the GDPR. Do not treat it as final.
Who we are
MIDAS House of Design, an interior design, architecture and landscape studio in Bengaluru, India. You can reach us at info@midashouseofdesign.com or +91 7607444444.
What we collect
There are two kinds of information, and they behave differently.
Your design board
When you pin a room, it is saved in your own browser using localStorage. It stays on your device. We cannot see it, it is not sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it. No account is created and no cookie is set to track you.
What you send us in an enquiry
If you complete the Start a project form and submit it, we receive and store:
- your name, email address, telephone number and the location of the property;
- your answers to the three questions about scope and timing;
- anything you write in the message field;
- a copy of your design board at the moment you submitted it — the images, rooms and themes you had pinned;
- the date and time, your browser’s user-agent string, and the country your request came from;
- a record that you ticked the consent box, and the exact wording you agreed to;
- if you ticked the second, optional box, that you asked to hear from us about MIDAS projects and news, the exact wording of that box, and the moment you agreed.
The two boxes are not the same thing
The first is required: without it we cannot store your enquiry, so we cannot answer it. The second is optional, starts unticked, and is only about hearing from us afterwards. Sending an enquiry never signs you up to anything, and we will answer you exactly the same either way.
Why we hold it
To answer your enquiry and to have a useful first conversation with your own selections in front of us. We do not sell it, we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately ask us to.
Where it goes
The form submits to an endpoint we run on Cloudflare Workers, and the record is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Two emails are then sent through Resend: one to the studio, and one confirmation to you. Those three providers process the data on our behalf in order to deliver the service.
The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person rather than a script is submitting it.
How long we keep it
Your enquiry
Twenty-four months from the day you send it. At the end of that period your enquiry and the copy of your design board are deleted from our database automatically — a scheduled job runs every day and removes anything older than twenty-four months. This is not a promise to act on a request; it happens on its own, whether or not anyone asks. It applies whether or not you asked to hear from us: agreeing to stay in touch is not agreeing to let us keep a two-year-old brief on file.
Your contact details
If you did not tick the optional box, your name, email and phone number are deleted at the same moment as your last enquiry — there is nothing left for us to hold them for.
If you did tick it, we keep your name, email and phone number after the enquiry has gone, so that we can write to you. We keep them until you tell us to stop, and no longer. Every email we send you carries an unsubscribe link; clicking it deletes your details on the spot. If an enquiry of yours is still open, we hold the details until that is closed and then delete them — but you will hear nothing further from us either way.
That covers the record held by this website. The two emails the enquiry generates — the one to the studio and your own confirmation — sit in ordinary mailboxes. We apply the same twenty-four month policy to the studio’s copy, but it is removed by hand rather than by the scheduled job, so if you want it gone sooner, say so and we will do it. Your own copy is yours, and only you can delete it.
Your choices
Email info@midashouseofdesign.com and ask us to send you a copy of what we hold, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop writing to you without deleting anything else, and the unsubscribe link in any of our emails does that immediately. Put your reference number in the message if you have one — it is in your confirmation email and begins with letters and digits, like DEA46DB7. If you do not have it, your email address is enough: we can find every enquiry sent from it.
A deletion request removes the enquiry and every pinned room attached to it from our database, and we delete the studio’s emailed copy at the same time. We do not keep a shadow copy afterwards.
Your design board is yours and always was: clear it on the board page at any time, with no involvement from us.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we will say so here rather than quietly amending it.
